Naomi Peller is the pretty daughter of Quilox boss, Shina Peller. She is one kid celebrity artist whose recent single has been enjoying massive airplay lately. Naomi is not just a brilliant young girl, she also knows all the rudiments of music despite her tender age.
Naomi was sighted at an event recently and she granted City People an exclusive interview on how she started music at age 9.
How did music start for you?
When I was younger, I loved music and admired lots of people. Though, I still admire many musicians. My dad noticed me and told me he saw my talent and passion for music and decided that I can go to the studio.
When did you start professionally?
Professionally, I started going to the studio when I was 9 years and I am 12 years old now. So, I have been doing music for 3 years.
What kind of music do you love?
I love Afro and Hip-Hop.
Were you forced into doing music?
No, I wasn’t forced.
What do you want to become when you grow up?
I want to be a musician and I want to be known world wide.
Are you the first child of Shina Peller?
Yes, I am the first child.
How best can you describe your dad?
My dad is a very popular person no doubt. He owns one of the popular night clubs in Nigeria. He is into entertainment. My dad is highly supportive of talents. He is good not just to his kids but to people around him. He does the best for his kids. He helps me to achieve a lot. He supports me a lot.
What class are you?
I am in secondary school, which is J.S.S. 1.
Don’t you think this will affect your education?
No, it has not. I read a lot. I don’t joke with my studies. That is part of what my dad told me, I must have to be a good musician. I am one of the best in my class and all my result is AS.
What is your favourite instrument?
I love violin and I also play piano a lot.
Are you working on anything for now?
Yes, I am working on a song with Tubaba?
How is it like working with Tubaba?
It is fun working with Tubaba. It is a wonderful experience for me and I hope everybody likes the song.
Do you have any musician you also wish to work with?
Yes. I will love to work with Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage and Aquila record artistes.
How do you feel being born by a man like Shina Peller?
Some say it is a great opportunity, and I have to say it is. I can do so many things but I believe with my hardwork, I will go places in life.
You are very intelligent, how did you get this trait?
You can not be born by great parents and not be a great child. I listen to lots of things, which has shaped my life.
My father makes sure we are exposed to things that will bring out the best in us. I study a lot because I want to get good grades. I don’t want to be rolling behind.
How was it like convincing your dad to allow you do music?
Well, it is not about convincing my dad. I walked up to him one day and I told him, I really want to go to the studio. I told him, I will love to mix songs, perform and I want to do so many things. I begged my dad and I think it was the toughest decision he had to make.
