Hadiza Aliyu Gabon, one of the famous Hausa movie actresses with Kano-based film industry Kannywood, has started featuring in Nollywood films.
Nollywood is a sister indigenous movie industry in Nigeria based in the southern part of the country.
A picture of the actress on a Nollywood film location with popular English movie actress Mercy Aigbe was posted Wednesday on the instagram page of Kannywood celebrities.
The duo shot the picture on a set for a film “Lagos fake life’’.
This development generated mix reactions among her fans in Kano on instagram. While some fear that the multi-talented Hausa movie star will get corrupted by some un-Islamic practices common in the south based industry, others see it as great achievement in her career pursuit.
Commenting, Bala Anas, a movie producer and director in Kano, cautioned the actress on the roles she accepts for Nollywood so as to retain the confidence of her fans in Kannywood.
‘’It is an achievement for her and Kannywood as a whole, but what matters is the roles she accepts while there. Any role that goes against Islamic ethical codes would be detrimental to her personality. My advice is she should be careful the roles she play,’’ he cautioned.
