Pearls of Africa, the Tv reality show is said to be programed to crusade the rebirth of an order that once existed, an order that truly defines the true worth of a woman and the price of womanhood is ready to show. So says Uche Jombo, spokesperson for the organisers of the show.
According to her, “POA is geared towards challenging the young woman to stand up for what she believes in. POA is a recourse into history, a history we all cherish, a history revered yet blackmailed “old school” she says
Continuing she said “the program is the winner takes all kind of show where the star prize is the mouth watering sum of three million naira cash, a full set of make-up kit and a brand new car.
Registration for participation which started in February would be closing in the month of May just as the days of auditioning would be announced in due course. As soon as the auditioning are over, Pearls of Africa TV Reality show will hit the screen of viewers.
POA is a reality show which would span 30 days and 30 nights across the mountains, somewhere behind the hills and around the water falls, in the heart of an ancient village locked around the hills of Obudu and under the watchful eyes of one of Nollywoods beautiful faces would be an adventurous prowl of 18 finalist viciously searching for the key that preserved an age and unlocks the new age.
An age far beyond the experience of the jungle visited only by the gods yet inhabited by men. some would be lost in transit and that is where the action begins. The key is hidden in one word and unlocked in the belly of three words.
Stars gather in P.H for Xtreme Nite
The River State capital of Port Harcourt is warming up for this year”s edition of Xtreme Awards and Gala Nite considered to be one of the most glamorous event that has ever taken place in that part of the South- South.
Already, contacts are being made and a lot of showbiz personalities are giving positive response. According to Efe Tommy, the award co-coordinator, a lot of stars have already shown interest in attending the talk of the town function in River State.
The hottest gist coming out from River State is that Le Meridien Hotel,Ogeyi has already thrown its eight behind the show.
The management see a need to encourage the Nigerian youth.The Xtreme award is going to a be a major red carpet event in Port Harcourt. Continuing, Efe said it is a celebration of youth and young adults and honors generally young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 27 in 35 categories, which include education sector, entertainment ,innovation and others.
He said the event would mark a turning point in the Nigerian entertainment industry with its attendant razmataz with students of several higher institutions in attendance.
Freedom in Chains sees the light
In partnership with United Nation Population Fund UNFPA, Nollywood Concept Productions, NCP, are set to premiere its movie Freedom in Chains centered on the promotion of gender equality and create awareness on violence against women.
The premiere set for Aso Rock Villa on the 30th April, 2008 with First Lady, Hajia Turai Musa Yar ‘Adua as special guest of honor will see the screening of the film which sees stars as Keppy Ekpenyong Bassey, Bimbo Akintola, Rekiya Atta, Alex Lopez, Larry Koldsweat doing their best to realise the story to the admiration of the viewers.
Also expected at the premiere are wives of state governors, ministers and legislators and other dignitaries including women leaders from across the continent.
When the movie was screened to a select members of the press at the United Nations Information Center, the director of the movie Bond Emereuwa said the premiere will flag off subsequent national screening to nip in the bud whatever pockets of violence there is against women, young people which are captured in the United Nations Millenium Development goals.
The current president of the Directors Guild of Nigeria further said that Freedom in chains captures symbolically the degradation, humiliation and slavery of women trapped in our world where tradition hold sway.
Freedom in Chains is directed by Bond Emereuwa and Fred Amata while Keppy Ekpenyong is the producer. The make-up was done by Iyen Agbonifo, president of the Creative Designers Guild.
